February 14, 2018

When it comes to date night, it’s a no-brainer that you want your look to make heads turn when you walk into a room. Once you’ve picked the perfect outfit and matched it with your favorite pair of heels, the last piece to your drop-dead ensemble is also the trickiest part; your hair. After all, it’s date night! You don’t wear the same clothes to work as you do on a date, so why wouldn’t you switch up your hair?! When you’re in need of the hair hotline, we’re here for you. Check out our expert advice on scoring a date night updo that will have him asking for a second date.

Bobbi Pins Are Your Best Friend

You don’t need an intricate prom-look to have hair that looks like you just left the salon. When in doubt, grab your bobby pins and keep it simple! Go for a minimalist half-up look by pulling your hair back as if you were making a ponytail, but only grab hair that is aligned with your eyebrows. Rather than pulling it tight into a pony, keep it loose and gently twirl the mini-pony in a circle, leaving a twisted look. Hold the twisted hair flush to the back of your head and place two bobby pins, one coming from each side (add a few more based on the thickness of your hair!). This is a quick and easy look that can be achieved by all hair types!

Posh Pony Tail

One common misconception of the ideal updo is that you need to block off an hour of your day to achieve it. Sometimes, Friday date nights after a long afternoon in the office don’t leave much time for trying a new do. Luckily, a ponytail doesn’t have to be a look that is solely for professional purposes or a trip to the grocery store. Spice up your style by taking the top layer of your hair and splitting it in half horizontally. Once you are holding the top layer of your hair closest to your face, take a comb and, slowly, brush your hair from top to bottom, creating a teased effect. Be sure not to tease the hair in the front as it will look frizzy. Once you have teased your hair to the desired volume, pull your hair up into a ponytail, leaving a small chunk of hair out from the nape of your neck. Gently comb the teased hair into the ponytail and tie. Last, wrap the stray chunk of hair around the hair tie and secure the end of it into your ponytail with a bobby pin.
